Hi all:
It has been noted elsewhere that Goerz Gotar-S process lenses are made of
quartz, and shoud therefore be nearly transparent to ultraviolet fro 220 -
600 nm. I recently bought one of these lenses, and tested their
transparency on an ultraviolet spectrophotometer. It turns out that they
are not more transparent than regular glass, suggesting that they are not
made of quartz. In fact, they actually absorb quite a bit more UV light
than an El-Nikkor. Caveat emptor (or whatever...). CHeers- Ed S.
