Series VIII filters with a proper adapter work great for my large format
lenses with 67 mm threads on the front element, so they'd be more than
adequate for your smaller lenses. Better to use larger filters and
eliminate the risk of vignetting. Also consider using Kodak Wratten gel
filters.
