Dear Richard Knoppow

Thanks for taking time to write a comprehensive answer to a slighlty vague
question.

Simplification is what I was after, I do have access to a lot of books
relating to the subject, but limited time to read them & they tend to be a
bit too detailed,,, Simple understanding is not easily extracted.

Very interesting point, having learned photography first from the
sensitometric point of view, later from the zone system, ended up practising
something inbetween and now beeing back in the sensitometry. That (simple)
understanding has eluded me. I get that "yes of course" feeling.

sorry, what does IMHO stand for ?

Yes please :)
(disregard the abovementioned limited time to read, i´ll find it
somewhere..)

understandable, though) :)
