For toning silver gelatin papers it's got to be Janet Neuhauser on "The
Power of Gold" in Issue #7. She mined the nuances as only printing a whole
show of 16 x 20 in one technique can. But I note that her original
inspiration was a small section in Liam Lawless's "Fun and Games with Blue
Toner" in Issue #4... Liam tucked so much info & so many variations into
those few pages it was hard to absorb them all -- this had no blue toner,
but was a riff on the sepia toner, or maybe it was the gold toner, don't
quite remember. Anyway, last I heard from Liam, he'd gotten -- I forget
what they call it in England, but we call it a motorcyle... (He didn't
say whether he packs a camera with it. Hi, Liam !)
