Well, I think Weston's photos of Cole are exquisitly beautiful, no
sexual sensuality or stimulation on my part. I admit to not having seen
that many of Mann's photos, but I can't imagine that any of them is
pornographic, which is defined as:
*1* *:* the depiction of erotic behavior (as in pictures or writing)
intended to cause sexual excitement
*2* *:* material (as books or a photograph) that depicts erotic behavior
and is intended to cause sexual excitement
*3* *:* the depiction of acts in a sensational manner so as to arouse a
quick intense emotional reaction <the /pornography/ of violence>
So pornography involves either an intention to cause sexual excitement
or violence, and requires the depiction of erotic behavior. I can't
imagine that Mann depicted erotic behavior. What's all that erotic about
naked children except to a very few pedofiles (and there are many fewer
than the news orgs would have you think)?
They do remind me of what it feels like to be around children, the
purity of children, touching them in a loving manner, so I suppose
there's some serious sensuality there, but it's not sexual.
The Raskolnikov metaphor is a very long stretch. You may be interested
in Crime and Punishment, but I fail to see how it applies here unless
you're suggesting Mann and Weston should be/have been imprisoned for
displaying these photos.
As to your web site, I have to say it's one of the rudest sites I've
encountered in some years, it grabbed my browser and wouldn't let go,
wouldn't even let me turn off the sound, and wouldn't let me go further
than the second page, wouldn't even let me enlarge the font. I had to
Force Quit to close the page, which also reset other pages I had open.
Now I suppose if you've got a high speed connection all is just fine,
but I don't.
