Having found some 145 messages from the list today when I logged on after
a mere 45 minutes of inattention, I'm not sure whether it's my brain
fatigue or lack of editorial precision causing the confusion.... but I'm
curious about the use of Everclear in a gum coating and would appreciate
clarification.
Everclear is as I recall a strong, pure, potable alcohol. When and how do
you use it in a gum coat? The tests I made with two kinds of alcohol
(isopropyl and methanol) showed some help in getting adhesion on a
slippery or otherwise impervious surface, but were generally inferior in
gradation and smoothness.... (Of course the isopropyl is only 69 cents,
but you wouldn't want to drink it.)
FWIW, since then I've found a few drops of Tween 20 like magic if a
coating won't spread smoothly, and no noticeable side effects...
