That is why these tests are so important.
At the moment we use FP4 by preference even though, exposed at ISO 32, it is
very slow; the resulting prints, when compared with those from negatives
fromfilms with modern grain structures developed in pyro, are so much better that
it justifies the inconvenience.
If the tests result in the ability to use a faster film to achieve the very
best from the platinum medium, all to the good.
