It is my understanding that wet-plate collodion photographers, in an attempt
to produce plates which could be coated in advance and carried, developed
recipes using hygroscopic materials such as raspberry syrup, honey, caramel,
treacle, etc. I wonder if the syrups would work well for a dusting-on process.
