OK, that would be 1/4 second (250/1000 = 1/4). Note that discharge tubes
don't stabilize that quickly, even if they have been warmed up prior to the
exposure. Expect exposures of less than, say, 10 seconds to be highly
variable, even if accurately timed. (Not that I doubt your
Cabernet-calibrated timing, mind you!)

Anyone for building a mammoth focal-plane-style moving-slit shutter under
their light box?
