I know Buxton is probably recommended by Ware and is fine paper and I've
not made any argyrotypes, but I've had great success with VDBs on
Bergger COT 320, so that paper may be a less expensive (not a lot) high
quality alternative.

I've not ever sized Cranes Cover and it has always worked pretty well
for most processes, so sizing may be your issue.

And for what it's worth I've seen some of Darryl Bird's argyrotypes made
on Cranes stationery and the prints are quite nice. So the paper really
works.
