Just a thought - I wonder if this is a paper issue. I haven't used Lenox for
gum, so I can't say for sure. Is anyone out there using Lenox for gum that
can comment? Textured papers can be more susceptible to the graining up that
you're describing. You might want to try your process on Fabriano Artistico
Extra White 140 lb hot press. This paper works very well for gum and is
capable of very smooth, grit free tones. If you still get graining on that
paper, then you've got something else going on WRT gum/pigment/dichromate
concentrations.
