We saw invitation for this encyclopedia in 2004, but did anyone write
for them? (I wrote 4 pieces.) I think people here are more concerned
about 19th century than 20th, and so with a quick look, I didn't see a
name familiar on this list, but I thought to ask...

A side story. As a matter of principle I asked them to donate my
manuscript's worth of honorarium to a photography-related non-profits
but they refused to pay to anyone but the contributer. So I declined
the payment altogether (it's also my principle). In another life I
spend a LOT more work to get my work published and I don't get paid at
all (or worse have to pay page charges for the journal). It's so
strange that they give me strange face when I decline small honorarium
payment.
