Double your amounts of everything and use a foam roller to coat with. Then
buff with the hake as needed.

As for the gelatin, mix small volumes say about 150 ml, add the formalin and
keep the gelatin vessel completely covered except when with drawing gelatin
with a syringe.

Or you can add a few drops of formalin to the gelatin as needed before
coating. Kerik Kouklis posted a nice method a few months ago. Very
efficient.

Work in a well ventilated area of course.
