It is very simple.
I have been passing on are comments from friends, colleagues and students
who have been members of the list who had assumed that the list would help them
to make prints using alternative processes but have been disappointed for the
reasons I have mentioned and more. I know that there are people still on the
list who feel the same way.
You should hear the moans when long pontificating discussions start here on
matters of detail when just stopping to think for a moment would make it
obvious that the discussion was going to get nowhere. People leave because they are
bored out of their minds. I have other friends who are experts in the field
and who are ready to help others but do not stay on this list as they get
attacked. The mistake I made was to stay and defend myself against a very silly
attack. Does that make me curmudgeonly? I am internationally recognised as an
expert gum printer but was told that I could only stay if I did not talk
about gum ! That was so laughable that I did not stay. But that was the point of
the attack !
I came back as there seemed to be an improvement in behaviour on these lists.
I can see this as I am a moderator on more than one.
Bringing these things to your attention is a service to the list. It does not
mean that i am arrogant anymore than it means that the people who complain to
me are arrogant.
Don't shoot the messenger.
