Asking these questions does not denigrate either the people or the research.

You quote Mark Twain, how about, 'Those who keep silent are as guilty as the
perpetrators of evil" ?

Can you explain why you consider that it is not useful to ask the
effectiveness or relevance of something. Surely such questions help to guide research and
improve communication.

We should keep a sense of proportion.
