I would first start with classic, Cranes 100% rag writing paper, white or
ecru. My copy of Morgan and Morgan's reprint of The Silver Sunbeam,
suggests a thin paper, ostensibly to minimize paper grain and maximize
sharpness. With its good sizing and good wet strength, Cranes seems to fit
the bill.
I have had an interest in trying to make Calotypes after purchasing a
Wollaston type camera obscura several years ago. I own a 4x5 camera and
4X5 plateholders and I can start with a Photographer's Formulary, Salt
Print Kit...
Has anybody out here ever made Calotypes (Talbotypes)?
