Gord,

I don't think there is a type 51 film. At least here in the states there
isn't. In color, they offer a type 58 & type 59. Call Abbey Photo in
Pennsylvania for a catalog. They carry all, even the most obscure, Polaroid
film.

Type 52 & type 55 are B&W with Type 55 giving you the neg. A transfer
cannot be made with the B&W material. Many have tried. It is simply a
different chemical process and there are no dyes. The dyes are what
actually produce the image on a transfer

As an aside, when I shot with the Polaroid 20x24 some years ago, we did
some large 20x24 transfers for the heck of it and they turned out amazingly
well. John Rueter, who is one of the 20x24 camera operators, has been doing
large transfers for over 12-15 years with incredible success. Of course,
now it has lost some of it's "art look" because it has been embraced by the
advertising/graphic design crowd.

Let me know if want the Abbey #, I can look it up next week for you.
