Doktor Bovins Ferric oxalate

We have been using a similar recipe to this in the UK for some years - I
calculated it for my classes in Platinum printing and also in Kallitype
around 1990.
Amounts I used were:
iron(III) nitrate nonahydrate 8.4g
Potassium oxalate monohydrate 5.7g
oxalic acid 0.25 g
in 20 ml distilled water.
This I think gives the normal "20% solution" used in most recipes.
Obviously there are nitrate and potassium ions present in solution, but
these did not appear to make results much different from those with
standard ferric oxalate solution.
It is much more convenient and cheaper to make.
