I taught the use of a similar formula in the UK when I got interested in
platinum and kallitype in the late 1980's. The solution I usually used
for ferric oxalate was as follows:

purified water 20ml

potassium oxalate monohydrate 5.7 g
iron(III)nitrate nonohydrate 8.4 g
(oxalic acid 0.25 g if needed)

These were dissolved in a brown bottle and left for 24 hrs.

This gave good results in both kallitypes, platinum/palladium prints, and
also Satista.
