The plate coater sounds like a good idea- I'd like to hear from
someone who's used it.

I've tried with airbrush, though only with an artist's one which had
too little coverage. Also, it was getting clogged up- I guess the
emulsion was too thich. So I gave up.

I have used most successfully sponge rollers, which are used to spread
glue, very easy to find in Paint shops. They give quite a uniform
coat.

Flaking in my case was also due to thick coating. In particular, it
occurred when I was giving two coats for extended blacks. That was not
one of my best experiments.
