you are 101% right. Let me just remind one thing. In majority of cases we
assume that something has potential to harm (cause cancer). Only limited
number of chemicals or physical phenomena are cancerogenic for sure. Others,
probably yes, based on studies on animals or only limited number of cases on
humans. You can not get a representative sample of volunteers and wash them
in formaline for extended period of time, can't you? So, we have few lists
of compounds grouped according to documented or perceived toxicity. I, as a
chemist, believe, that in any case of suspect cancerogen, one should take
upmost care. You only live once (sorry Christians). Another problem, if we
bother too much, we are going to end up in a psychiatrist's file. So, many
ignore, diminish an importance of being careful. I worked for some years in
a research institute, mainly tracing PAHs in food, also nitrosoamines,
pesticides, metals. Now, in different area we analyse PCBs, PAHs. I believe,
we still not fully understand an extent of an environment polution. And as
long as I am here, I enjoy computing and photography.
