I have found that the Agfa N31 p film is great for making enlarged negatives.
It is available through a company in NY called Arkemido (?sp). It is a 2 step
process to get to a negative.
>One way to make enlarged negs using this film from 35mm B&W negatives is to
use it in conjunction with a smart little device that uses a 4x5 Polaroid
back and Polaroid Type 55 pos/neg film. It is called the Day Lab Printer.
The printer takes the negative and exposes it onto the Polaroid P/N film and
you get your instant continuous tone positive, that is nice and tonal yet
flat. (Step 1)
When fixed in sodium sulfite, washed etc and dried. the positive is then
placed in a 4x5 enlarger and projected onto the N31p film. It is a one step
process from there.
There is almost no noticeable grain in the Polaroid film, and the N31p has
little, so the only grain is in the original 35mm B&W film that you use.
I will try to find the address of the Day Lab Printer; but I do know it is
available at B&H in NYC, and at Lens and Repro in NYC. The Day Lab is also
great for doing Polaroid transfers.
