I was surprised at the number of people who responded to my
original post. There seems to be a universal love of these images.
If there was a straightforward way of reproducing the process I think
that it would be a very popular artistic medium. What I would like
to do is to explore this to see if something can be done.
Based on the active discussion I think that many people would be interested.

I can read scanned graphics as either TIF or GIF, you may send them
to me as uuencoded images. Probably better not to post the TIF or GIF to the
group as they are rather long and not everyone can translate the uuencoded
messages. I can pick them up directly if there is an FTP site I can connect to.
