OK, you have convienced me. I will try Tannic Acid toning again. I suspect
the "trick" is to do as you say and print a couple of stops darker. At any
rate, I will try it and let you know what happens. The lead acetate toner
consists of a 5% solution of lead acetate ( 5 gms. per 100 cc of water).
A temperature of 30o C. is recommended, but I have found that it works at
room temperature although more slowly. The lead toner is reusable and lasts
forever (well, nearly forever). BTW, I use the following cyanotype formula
which I believe gives whiter whites and no bleeding:

Ferric Ammonium Citrate 68 gm
Oxalic Acid 1.3 gm
Water 250 cc.

Potassium Ferricyanide 23 gm.
Oxalic Acid 1.3 gm
Ammonium Dichromate 0.5 gm
Water 250 cc.

Don't ask me what the extra stuff does- I am a physicist, not a chemist.
I have been told that the lead toner makes the image more stable, but
not being a chemist.........???? Have you ever tried the above?
