RE: First Tricolor Gum (on aluminum)
Hi Keith. Thank you! (Especially for making this possible for me - and that's just the beginning..) The negative was made on A4 sized plain paper -> image size is roughly 6 5/8" x 10" (the other side of the plate is ready for a second trial)... I'm using 16" x 20" sheets and A3 image size (29.7cm x 42cm - 11.5" x 16.5") - because I can't find A3+ sized plain paper stock. Yupo is hard to handle. All my Yupo stock is curved (because I didn't store the sheets flat but in rolls) and it's hard to handle it at A3+ size (it's too thin and fragile - compared to COT320 I mean; I always manage to crease it when I handle large sheets). Besides, aluminum is more exotic ;)... Will use Michal's technique (remember the multi-layer glass gellages in the Biennial?); UV curing adhesives. But this is a future project - first I have to make some prints in order to need to mount them ;) Best regards, Loris. -----Original Message----- From: Keith Gerling [mailto:Keith@GumPhoto.com] Sent: 11 Aralık 2006 Pazartesi 17:25 To: alt-photo-process-l@usask.ca Subject: RE: First Tricolor Gum (on aluminum) Hi Loris, Congratulations on your print! It was daring using an image with predominant light areas (steps and walls), but you succeeded. ... A couple of questions for you: How big is the print? And, I think you may have addressed this, but have you given up on using Yupo? I would seem like the gelatin/marble powder would behave the same, with the added advantage of being already white and translucent. Mounting on Plexiglas is a very good idea. And a prudent one as well regarding safety of the print. I'll be very interested to hear how that works out. Nice work! Keith
