I perfectly undestand this. Anyway, teaching the involved chemicals, the
dangers associated with them individually and the incompatibilities
between each other (such as to never mix two chemicals - including water
- when they're not instructed to do so and/or without being absolutely
sure of the consequences) is an absolute must...

BTW, 18% hydrochloric acid is a widely used (especially by low income
consumers) cleaning product in Turkey:

But my real reason for not recommending them is that legally nowadays 
you really have to watch what you teach and suggest for people to use 
because if they are cavalier with these acids it's a lot more dangerous
than 
being cavalier with developer or something.
