Re: bromoil workshop at Penland this summer

Chris,

I haven't been back to Penland since 1984. Had a very bad instructor, who was in the process of a divorce at the time, and stayed very depressed for the entire course. He'd come in everyday, all slumped over, and ask, "So . . . what do you guys want to do today? Any ideas?" It was pretty awful. Most of the students left before the end of the 2 weeks--and then the Penland Director left shortly thereafter. (Photography was very low profile there at that time.)

Fortunately, things have greatly improved there since 1984. I've thought about going back, but I honestly think they've raised the costs so much, that it's too expensive-- for what it offers relative to other places similar (and that focus solely on photography). I think they need to get rid of their lottery system, too. Just my 2 cents.

Aside from my complaints, it is a beautiful location and has a great atmosphere. You'll enjoy it, I'm sure.

Good morning!
Summer is here!
Anyone attending the bromoil workshop given by David Lewis this summer at Penland? I will be assisting it and am really excited to do so, as well as see what Penland is all about.
