You won't need to heat it very much. I use a magnetic stirrer and the phenidone is in solution way before the glycol gets up to 100ºF.

Ethylene glycol will probably work just as well, but I won't swear to it.

 You could dissolve it in propylene glycol. Should keep indefinitely.
