Aren't these labels, especially the ones based on time rather than appearance or technique, all marketing? What artist called him/herself "modern" or "post modern," whereas such labels were used extensively by critics, agents, gallery salespeople, and the like. I find the term "post modern" meaningless. There's no common style or subject matter shared by all "post modernists." This can't possibly be of concern to artists when making art. Pam
