Christina,
I dissolve 5 gr Sod Benzoate in 850 ml deionised water, than add 200 gr powdered gum. Stir and let sit overnight. This mixture is very clear, lasts at least for 18 months. No idea of the degrees in baumé.
I usualy make a stock mixture of 1 (gr) of watercolor (mostly W&N or Scmincke) to 6 (ml) gum. For printing 1 part of the paint/gum stock is mixed with 0 to 4 parts of gum. Pot Dichromat (saturated) is added at a ratio of
0.5 the total volume paint/gum.
