I did some tricolor gum on Masa paper and wood:  one coat on the wood and the other on separate sheets of masa that were oiled for transparency and tacked onto the wood.  Interesting, but they would be a lot more effective if the paper were more transparent.

Hi Keith, actually that was "my" question to people on the list :)

I remember reading somewhere (could be "tracing paper" entry in wikipedia)
that when you treat paper in sulfuric acid, the fibers somehow change,
making the paper more translucent.

I absolutely don't know if that really works or if that is doable at home.
(If yes, I don't know what dilution, for how long etc.) Was just asking if
that's possible. You bet that I have this on my "to try" list... but not
too soon.

I could use a much more translucent Masa for a la Burkholder / Matusz gold
leaf technique... Masa is more than adequate and robust enough for most
iron processes.
