Thanks Bob.  The toxicity is really not all that bad unless you  
decide to use potassium cyanide fixer (which can easily be replaced  
by standard sodium or thiosulfate fixers).  The explosive nature of  
ether demands respect but otherwise, silver nitrate is the baddy and  
most of us use that already on a regular basis when doing many  
alternative processes.  You don't have to use stuff like cadmium  
salts, concentrated acids, etc., because there are alternatives that  
give pleasing results.
