Project Basho's fall semester has just begun and we have several exciting alternative process workshops scheduled for the coming months:

Toy Camera - 10/23 & 24. Instructor: Michelle Bates. An exploration of the creative possibilities of plastic cameras.  This workshop focuses on camera modifications, tips for prepping, shooting, and printing, as well as critique. More info: http://www.projectbasho.org/workshops/2010fall/toy-camera-workshop.html

Introduction to Polymer Gravure - 10/30 & 31. Instructor: Clay Harmon. An introduction to the polymer photogravure process, the modern successor to the Talbot-Klic copperplate process. Prints will be made from digital negatives printed at our studio, allowing students to print images made with digital cameras or scanned film negatives. Carbon Printing - 11/6 & 7. Instructor: Sandy King. This workshop provides detailed instruction on how to sensitize, expose and transfer carbon tissue, and how to develop the final print. Students will learn what makes a good negative for carbon printing and will leave with hands-on experience and a few original prints. Tri-Color Gum Bichromate - 11/13 & 14. Instructor: Christina Z. Anderson. This workshop will be an excellent introduction to the gum process for beginners and intermediate gummists alike. It will cover digital negative preparation, sizing and shrinking paper, mixing solutions, coating, exposing, developing, and finishing prints, as well as expressive ways of using gum.
