  Hi Rene,

I'd suggest the problem has to do with the fact that it's a refurbished 
model.  I rarely see flawless performance if a unit comes back from the 
manufacturer labeled "refurb".

Pictorico is great as is the 3800.  If you continue to have trouble 
after trying the techniques Mark and Marek have recommended, I'd suggest 
calling the vendor and ask them to send you another printer that's not a 
lemon.  Don't tell them you're running 3rd party media through it 
however as they will deny any responsibility for the problem as only OEM 
media is officially supported by Epson (and most other manufacturers).
