I picked up a RO system from Sears years ago. The price was $200+ and every
once in a while a new RO filter and a carbon filter. It has paid for itself
many times. I don't run out to the store a carry 5 or 6 bottles up the
stairs and down the long hall. The water at the studio is included in rent
so it free. sort of ; )

It must be 12 years old by now.

I have a dehumidifer that runs for about three months and in July and
August I acquire my distilled water. I gather about 15 litres per
week at that time. I run the exit hose from the dehumidifer to a
small funnel having a cotton plug to catch dust from the water and
air, and then into a large water jug. I usually collect about 30
litres which does me for the year. Best of all , it costs nothing extra.
