I agree that alternative process photography has little meaning to
someone unfamiliar with the field.
What about craft or artisan? Perhaps something to indicate the degree
of handwork and craftsmanship necessary to produce quality work.
Whats the opposite of "point and click"? I use "position and wait" in
my pinhole workshop ...
