1996 HISTORIC PROCESS WORKSHOPS
Hands on! Experience 19th Century photography in the Historic
Process Workshops at the George Eastman House in Rochester, New
York.
In March and June, see the Wet-Plate Collodion process up close
with Mark and France Scully Osterman, Wet-Plate Photographers.
Make your own ambrotype self-portrait (to take home) under the
guidance of these expert practitioners.
In May, watch Kenneth E. Nelson, Daguerreotypist, recreate the
original photographic process. Then work with a small group to
make a daguerreotype (paper copies of the plates will be sent to the
participants).
Explore the history and conservation practices for these processes
with Grant Romer, Director of Conservation and Museum Studies.
The 1996 Historic Process Workshops for the first half of the year will
be held on:
Saturday March 16 Wet-Plate Collodion Workshop
Saturday May 4 Daguerreotype Workshop
Saturday June 22 Wet-Plate Collodion Workshop
All workshops are for the full day, from 9 AM to 5 PM.
Registration is limited to 12 people for the Wet-Plate Collodion
Workshop and 16 people for the Daguerreotype Workshop. These
workshops sold out quickly in the past, so register soon by calling

members).
