Having followed the thread on Cliche Verre,I also feel that this area of
creative expression does not get the critical attention that it rightfully
deserves.

There are a few contemporary workers in this field, one such Photo Artist is a
personal friend and associate, whose work I would like to bring to the
attention of this list. He is a Australian by the name of John P Pollard
who lives
in Melbourne, and exhibits around the world.
An interesting picture of his Dichro-Vere process as he calls it
illustrated the front cover of the Royal Photographic Societies
Photographic Journal, October 1995 edition, which also contained several
examples of his process, and underlying rationale of his technique.Entitled
from Aquachrome to Dicro-Verre.

John describes Dichro- Verre as an image making system that utilises sheets
of glass onto which is coated an opaque ground {similar to Cliche-Verre }.
The image design can be scratched, scraped, incised, and/or painted. He goes
on to say that plastic background printers are also incorporated to print
flat areas of colour in a free scumbling manner and reckons this combined
technique provides further joys to the application of the Gum-Bichromate
process.

His images are certainly very beautiful at first glance having the quality of a
lithograph or fine art screen print and of course completely unique in character

I have tried to persuade John to go electronic but he remains very suspicious,
however he is a avid letter writer and his fax machine gets red hot at
times. I'm sure he would love to correspond with any body who would like to
take up this fascinating form of image making. His Tel/Fax no is 00 61 3
729 3767.
