I finally got my hands on a batch of GE F20 T12D (Daylight) tubes
and this evening tested the same carbon tissue previously compared
with exposure to UV (Sylvania 350 nm BL tubes) and GE Cool White
tubes. I sensitized six strips of carbon tissue (1/4%, 1/2%, 1%,
1 1/2%, 2%, and 3%) with potassium dichromate and exposed for 20
minutes. All test parameters were similar to the previous test I
did with the UV/Cool White tubes. The results were *spectacular*.
The daylight tubes were both faster (if we measure sensitivity by
the time required to produce the first maximum black on steps 1
and 2), and of greater contrast than the UVs. I have not yet had
the time to plot the densities of these tests but will do so
either tommorow or the next day for you to look at. But I am
looking at the carbon prints of the step tablets and can
assure you that for my money, with this particular tissue and'
in my working conditions, the daylights are vastly superior to
the UVs.
