By the way, are there anyone who has some practical experience with the
starch - oil process, described in Luis Nadeau=B4s "History and practice of
oil and bromoil printing" book? My understanding of the english language
may not be that good, but it seems to me that the paper first should be
coated with a layer of a saturated ammonium dichromate solution, and then a
coating of starch AND ammonium dichromate should be applied? Will there be
possible to see the printed highlights of the exposed image in the
emulsion, like it is described for the oil process? I will be grateful for
all information on this process.
Another question - I have been using Kentmere Art de luxe, grade 2, double
weight paper for bromoils for some time, Quite often I suddenly get some
black spots on the print, usually after two or three soakings in water. The
spots are not ink, it is possible to see them develop and grow on the
print, from nothing and up to at least an inch in diameter. At first I
thought this was the result of improper washing, but later tests show this
disgusting behaviour with VERY well - washed prints with VERY well - washed
prints too.
