I am a graduate student at the San Francisco Art Institute, I print
in platinum and photogravure. Currently I am working on a project
that I hope I will be able to print in gravure. Depending on how it
goes I will try and get our printing department set-up for printing
gravure on a regular basis. Art school and budgets for things like
this don't always work in the artists favor.
In regards to your question, I can't really help you with collotype,
although, if I remember correctly, bill Jay from the ASU department
has printed collotype. Mark Klett, also from ASU could be a good
resource for you. ASU's printing department seemed very nice. I
visited while looking at grad schools last year. If you are
interested in Gravure you are probably familiar with Richard Benson
from Yale. Their program seems a bit stuffy, but Benson would make
it worth it.
Another option might be Rhode Island School of Design. Paul Taylor,
a gravurist in NH is a friend of mine, and has an MFA from RISDI. I
think he teaches there occasionaly, but I'm not sure if they do it
on a regular basis.
You could also try in New York: The School of Visual Arts, New York
University, or Cooper Union.
Anyway, sorry to be so long winded. If I can be of any more help let
me know.
Sincerely,
Lincoln Turner
