Though I am not a Pt/Pd worker, I sure do some odd processing. My sink is
2x6 redwood sides w/a 7/8" marine plywood bottom. I dado the redwood so
there is a slot for the plywood. I paint the edges of the plywood
w/Recorcinal glue so no water can ever get to it.
Like Richard, I use a roofing product made here in San Rafael CA which
may be similar to many others. I've used it on my back deck for about ten
years and it has seen fallen limbs and thousands of gallons of rain,
spilled drinks and pounding of multiple feet.
My sink is then coated w/a white epoxy (I think) coating but that really
gets dirty. Overall I use a primary coating layer to seal the whole
thing, then two gray sealing coatings and a final white epoxy coating (I
don't think that is necessary. All coats MUST be dry before putting on
another one.
