Galina (& other interested parties),
Acrylic transfer is a process where you coat a pre-existing image with
acrylic medium (I use medium weight glossy - it is a acrylic paint product,
about $7.00 for a jar at art supply stores). The image becomes embedded in the
acrylic so that you can wash the paper backing off and the image remains, in a
semi-transparent, plastic "decal" state. You can then place this image on to
many surfaces (acrylic side out) or you can print through it (even distort the
image some if you wish while pulling it gently after soaking it in warm water).
If you want the details of "how to" email me directly I will tell you.
Clay coated paper is a type of printing paper that isn't glossy or
newsprint, like Time or Newsweek Magazine. It was the type if imagery I had
always been told to use in acrylic transfer. Then Bruce McCaughey posted
information saying he uses Color & B&W Xerox. I found it worked much better than
the magazine images (Thanks again Bruce).
