I realize Judy's assistant has begun the project with Liquid Light,
but I thought I would report on a session by Theresa Airey at the
recent PhotoProExpo here in Washington, DC. Airey showed prints
using both Liquid Light and Silverprint (the Kentmere product
distributed by Luminos in US). Undiluted, the Silverprint produced
a much stronger image with good detail and deep blacks.
It can also be diluted 1:1 or 1:2 to give a softer high key effect.
Airey felt it was a far superior product which, unlike her experience
with Liquid Light, reliably produced good prints. It also is a
much faster emulsion.
For use on non-paper, she recomended coating the substrate with
polyurethene. She sometimes uses it on rocks or wood without the
undercoat which produces an uneven (but possibly interesting) effect
due to the emulsion soaking in differently in different areas.
She said that it works well on many different surfaces although I
don't have glass specifically in my notes.
