To the best of my knowledge it was the main ingredient in BromoSelzer back
in the 30's until the Feds made them take it out. My first job when I got
out of the USMC in 1964 was working for Producers Photo Lab in Hollywood as
a custom printer. Just a little while before local bookie was to come in,
several of the oldtimers would get out a bottle of Kodak pot bromide, put a
spoonful in a glass, add water a drink it. I think they were always in the
hole with the bookie and needed to mellow out a little.
