Polaroid Xfers/manipulation?

Hello. I'm a new subscriber here who is trying to learn more about the
artistic effects that can be achieved through altering Polaroid prints. I
understand that Polaroid techniques are included in the alternative
processes covered in this mailing list.

I've read the FAQ for this list and noted the section on Polaroid image
transfers--I'm interested in learning more about this technique, as well as
about Polaroid SX-70 manipulations, which didn't seem to be covered in the
FAQ. If either of these subjects has already been discussed on this list,
I'd appreciate someone giving me some idea of what year/month they were
covered so I can look the postings up in the archives. (BTW, is it possible
to search the archives as a whole by keyword?)

I first heard about hand-altering Polaroid SX-70 prints through the 1993
book, "Painterly Photography" by Elizabeth Murray. Murray also makes
reference to Polaroid image transfers, and I recently obtained the booklet
Polaroid itself puts out on this subject. I'm intrigued by the
Impressionist-style images which can be created using these techniques, and
would like to try them out. I should mention that while I've done some
amateur photography with 35mm cameras, I'm not at all familiar with
Polaroids.

If anyone out there has experience with either of these techniques, I'd
very much appreciate them passing along any tips, suggestions, advice, or
descriptons of methods/materials used--anything that would be helpful for a
beginner (including recommendations about which Polaroid camera(s) I would
need to get started!). I'll look forward to your replies.

Thanks in advance!
