Dr. Green's book is dated 1981and a 45-page print-out of a computer file. No
illustrations and no chapter on the history. To me it seems to be a collection
of those readily available formulas or manuals on carbon and carbro, the
references given don't cover any scientific or elaborated literature, but
concentrate on "The Keepers of Light", two small brochures by Alois Heigl once
published by Hanfstaengl, the Focal Encyclopedia and two periodicals. After
reading Luis Nadeau's books I was somewhat disappointed about the "basic"
structure of this publication, but one should keep in mind that this book came
out five years before Luis' MODERN CARBON PRINTING.

BTW: A very good old book on carbon transfer printing is A. M. Marton: A New
Treatise on The Modern Methods of Carbon Printing (Second Edition), Bloomington,
Illinois, USA 1905. The George Eastman House Library owns a copy and one may
probably ask for a microfilm print-out.

Dr. Green may probably still supply Hanfstaengl carbon tissue through his
