well, well, well, well, the source dimension in the case of light is the
bulb. Light is this case is behaving as a ray. As rays travel away from a
source (the source of a RAY is always a point), the distance between the rays
increases. Put another way the light loses intensity, or think of a print
recieving less light losing its density. The concept of that inverse square
thingy is that you must pick a distance to begin with, and the distance you
pick to start establishes the 'twice' the distance for the inversely lesser
amount of light.

The hard part is really to match the luminosity of the bulbs to the distance
you need initally for your exposure, then twice, or half of that is the
relative f-stop increment change , 4 times the distance is 1/4 the light per
the inverse rubic's cube law.
