Peter,

I was raised in the English speaking part of Louisiana, where I also
learned to speak French. Now live in another English speaking country,'
South Carolina. Your term DIY was totally meaningless to me, as is the
concept of a Do it yourself store. As Pascal writes, it is much better
to avoid "abreviations pas si evidentes que ca."
