I don't think that the lpi has much to do with it. True, the Evercolor
step tablet was 400 lpi, however, most of my experiments to date have
been with 300 lpi negatives. I've tried 300 dpi diffusion dithered, and
300 lpi linescreens, and they seem to print the same, tonally anyway.
The 400 lpi screen also seems to be consistent.
